Wine of the Week

GRAU2006195H-L

2006 Erben von Beulwitz Kaseler Nies’chen Auslese Alte Reben 375ml ($41.50)
Here’s a dessert wine that screams for the fruits of summer –  cherry, peach, plums and apricots.  Seriously good stuff!

“For those of you who participated in our recent Auslese sale we would like to bring your attention to the under-appreciated wines of the small von Beulwitz estate on the Ruwer, not far from Germany’s oldest city, Trier.

The 2006 Erben von Beulwitz Kaseler Nies’chen Auslese Alte Reben 375ml ($41.50) is an astoundingly complex glass of Riesling with loads of honeyed layers, enhanced by botrytis. The outstanding thing is the wine’s flavor profile due to the age of the vines–between 60 and 80 years!

This wine cries out for fruit desserts such cherry, apricot or peach-based tarts or pies. Just be sure to go easy on the sweeteners. This wine will get you there. If such dishes are not to your liking try sipping this beauty alone as dessert!”
