Frank’s Pick: Wine of the Week (Mar 8)
When asked to pick a wine for this week’s features section, Operations Manager Frank Hingley chose the 2006 Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese (Gold Cap), purchased at auction in 2007 – “brilliant, fruit-forward Riesling expressive of the local soil and geology. A very ripe vintage” $135/bottle.

On January 27th, Christie’s held their auction of Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings, & Watercolors. On the Monday preceding sale, the Dee Vine Wines had the opportunity to showcase German wines paired with the excellent menu prepared by Kurt Gutenbrunner of Wallse. New York Times Article On Spätburgunder
Yesterday, the New York Times ran an excellent piece on Spätburgunder (German Pinot Noir). Klaus Peter Keller featured prominently in the article for his sublime versions. I have loved and searched for his red wines since I tasted the 2005 Dalsheimer Bürgel in the Winter of 2008. They have been exceedingly difficult to source, even more so than a few of his Riesling Grosses Gëwachs. Here is a list of excellent Spätburgunder we have at Dee Vine Wines.
